SCC on Focus on the Family

Hey there! Steven Curtis Chapman was on Focus on the Family this past week. I just finished listening to it. It was awesome. It's a 3 part series. It is well worth listening to. Here is the link:

I will update about our week in another post. The boys started school this week. It all went well. I have pictures, but haven't gotten them downloaded yet.

Hope everyone has a good labor day. We are enjoying ourselves away from home. I'll post about that later as well!

3:30 am

3:30 in the morning is just not the time to play. If you know me well, you know how much I like my sleep. For some reason, Sarah was up in the middle of the night. Thankfully this does not happen often. I could not get her back to bed. So, I just decided to bring her to bed with me. This usually helps. Well not this time. She wanted to play and I'm not very playful in the middle of the night. I ended up putting her in her sleep sack, thinking maybe she was cold. This seemed to do the trick because she didn't get up again until 7 am.

Tomorrow the kids start school, so today we'll be making sure they have all their supplies in order. We'll checking their lists and checking them twice. Daniel's teacher allows popcorn at snack time, so I need to go get some for him. I love subbing for her because the kids always share their popcorn.

I need to figure this out. The "G" key or top thingy just came off my laptop. It's quite annoying. Do you realize how often you use that key? Plenty!

Some days...

You know, there are those days when I will be glad to live back in the States. Today was one of those days. I mean, is it really to much to ask that Subway not run out of turkey AGAIN!!! Or that I would be able to find a seam ripper at the BX or craft store? Or that the commissary have 100% grape juice, not cocktail which is not available through WIC?

On a brighter note, Sarah CRAWLED! And she did it the old fashioned way on hands and knees. She does prefer to boot scoot, but at least we know that she can crawl if she chooses to do so.

I figured out that it will still be worth my while to sub even if I have to put Sarah in day care. I feel really good about the people who will be caring for her. I just feel really good about this year. I got my transcript requests faxed off today and filled out my FAFSA application (application for federal aid). Now all I have to do is wait for October 20th to get here.

Going Back!

Well, I did it. I am going back to school. To make a long story short, after searching online universities, I have enrolled at Liberty University. It is a Christian university in Virginia that offers a Bachelor of Science degree in education. I never thought I'd be going back after finishing my AA, but I am. It looks like I will start classes on October 20th. This works out well, because my sister will be here until the 17th. They did have classes that start in September, but that was too soon to get financial aide turned in. So, October it is. I know how my niece feels when she got enrolled at PLU. I knew from the moment I found the site that I would be going to school there.

I also went and talked to the elementary and middle schools here. I will hopefully be working a couple days a week. That will help get the adoption and some other bills paid off before we retire. Another thing that excites me about this university is that it's all online, so I don't have to rush to get it finished. I will be taking 2 classes per term.

Got to run!

Updates

I know the pictures are probably what most people want to see. Sorry I haven't gotten more of them posted. I don't have a problem taking the pictures, just remembering to download them to the computer.
Sarah is doing really well. We go to play group every Thursday. It's really good for her. Allen said today she actually tried to crawl the normal way while I was at soccer practice with Caleb. She's also starting to get herself down from standing. Getting into the standing position hasn't been a problem, she just hasn't figured out how to sit down. She's doing better on that. I told her pediatrican today that I wasn't too concerned about her walking yet. She has plenty of time. Now if it's time for her to go to preschool and she's still scooting herself across the floor, well maybe we'll get a little concerned then. Until then, she gets into plenty as it is. She even tried to eat the cat's tuna this morning.
I never thought I'd say it, but I've been looking into online universities. I've decided to go back to school and get my BA. I'd found one that met my requirements, so I thought, and they were supposed to get back with me within the week. Well, that was 2 weeks ago. So I went searching again today. I applied for information to a few universities and two got back with me really quickly. One I've discovered isn't really what I was needing. The other sounds like it will work. Now I just need to contact them personally and talk about requirements. Another good thing about this school is that they recognize the Spouses to Teachers (and Troops to Teachers) program and have scholarships for it.
Wow! I just realized that one of my feet has gone to sleep. PAINFUL! I don't even want to move it. That's what I get for sitting on my leg for so long. Ok, that's better. Now where was I?
Oh yes, going back to school. Anyway, Joshua and I took the turtles that we'd been watching all summer back to his 4th grade teacher. Something just felt different about being in the school. It was just like it was where I belonged. So, I called the person today who is going to watch Sarah for me. Her husband works with Allen. I have her and two other people lined up so that I can sub. We're going to go to her house tomorrow so I can see where she lives. One of the other people lives really close to the school so that's good. Then I'm going to go to both schools and tell them I still want to sub this year. I had originally said I wasn't going to, but now that I feel more comfortable with the childcare situtation, I think I will work more than just one day a week. I just want to make sure that they know I still want to work.
Guess that's about it. I will try to post again after the first day of school. I still can't believe Joshua will be in middle school. I think I'm more nervous about him going to middle school than I was when Caleb went. Tomorrow we also find out who Daniel's teacher will be. I'm excited about that too. I really like both of the second grade teachers! By the way, if this in one REALLY long post, I apologize. I have tried several time to put spaces in between the paragraphs and it's not letting me!

He's 14 already!

How did it happen? How did he get to be 14 already? He keeps reminding me that soon he will be able to get a learners permit to drive. Of course I did take care of this when I told him that he couldn't get one while we are still here and we will be moving when it's winter time, so it will be 2 more years until he gets that learners permit. I still can't believe he's getting so grown up.

Caleb and some of his friends went bowling for his birthday (one of his friends that spent the night couldn't make it bowling). What you can't see in the picture is that everyone, except Caleb, is standing on a step so that they are almost as tall as him. It was pretty funny. They had a good time though.

Soccer practice started today. Caleb is the only one playing this year. The other two wanted to play basketball. School starts Monday. I'm ready this year, although I'm not ready for Joshua to go to middle school. No one is ready for their 5th grader to be in middle school though. Yes, I have pictures of Sarah. I will post again, hopefully tomorrow, with some updated pictures of her. Sorry I've been so bad at posting. I've just been really busy keeping afloat with all the kids and the house.

3 months already

My how time flies. It's been three months since Sarah was placed in our arms forever. Can you believe it? The time has gone by so fast. What has gone by equally fast is how long we've been married. We celebrated our anniversary on Friday - 16 years! I love the song "Livin' Our Lovesong". It so reminds me of us. It just amazes me sometimes at how fast life really does go by. Soon Allen will retire from the military and start a new career, Caleb will learn to drive (help me here), Sarah will learn to walk, etc. And before we know it, the nest will be empty (Allen has told me that Sarah is the last though). I just try to enjoy it all before it passes before me.
